I've always liked to doodle. Many a work meeting (dull or otherwise) has been brightened by the shapes I've drawn in the margins. Recently I've started 'doodling on purpose', also known as 'doing art'. These two pieces are typical of what I've been working on. Both have been done on pieces of throwaway cardboard packaging. They were drawn using a Sharpie, and are quite small. The first one is actually 5x5 inches, and the second one is 3x3 inches. Some are smaller. I have yet to take on anything big enough to be used as a sleeve for a vinyl single. These drawings serve a double purpose; they are relaxing to create, and interesting to look at afterwards. I take pleasure in them, and maybe you will too.

Thanks Franks. High praise indeed. I like The Residents a lot, although I have only heard a small amount of their huge body of work.

I used to draw/doodle etc during downtime at work. Eventually the workflow drastically increased and I acquired one of those smartphone devices (which is a huge counterproductive distraction) so I only end up doodling at work once in a blue moon, usually towards the end of my shift. Great work!

Thanks Dylan. Phones certainly do cut down on certain types of creativity, even as they open up others. This is why I started 'doodling on purpose'.
