I saw this photograph in a photography exhibition of Asturian journalism this last summer in Gijón, Asturias (Asturias is a region located in the north of Spain) and I loved seeing John Cage with his sewing machine. I thought it would be a great Fluxus performance. I know, it's not John Cage, it's not the Comte de Lautréamont either.

Rafael, This is fantastic! The gentleman in the photo really does look like John Cage. And it would be something John would do as a Duchampian joke/hommage. Thank you so much for posting this!

Leslie, I'm very happy that you liked it. I really appreciate your comments. We all love John Cage, Duchamp, Lautréamont and now this Asturian tailor!

One thing, this post is thanks to Hal. The editor is always on the lookout for strange phenomena.

Later in the century, Daphne Oram fought to free women from traditional sewing chores by creating revolutionary sounds with her atomic-powered, electronic Alfa pictured here:

The above is a joke, of course, but if you are unfamiliar with Ms. Oram's work, this link will take you to some of her truly unique electronic compositions, NO JOKE, GREAT NOISES:

Thanks for the stitches, Rafael!
