I am considering changing the section currently called ARTIST PAGES to
MEMBER PAGES instead. What are your thoughts? I think that one problem with calling them Artist Pages is that we might have potential community members who do not consider themselves to be artists, but they do have articles, reviews, etc. to contribute. By using MEMBER PAGES instead, each person who wishes to contribute to EC will have one page which will contain everything that they contribute: a poem, a music link, a review, a tech article, an interview, a new painting, a new photo, etc. A good example is _, who wrote a review and contributed an interview. In the future he might want to write about his experiences as an artist...

That's a tricky question. Basicly a good idea but if you change it this way one has to look at all member pages to find eventual new reviews - members who dont think that they are artists can write reviews anyway - plus if I as *artist* write a review I'd ask to put it in the review section. Well, basicly I think some things may *get lost* - that's all I can think of at the moment.

I totally understand what Lord Litter said above! BUT my own personal vision of EC is to make it based around and about people, not topics. We form connections with other people, not with news items and reviews. But we CAN form connections with other people THROUGH news items and reviews. Ditlev's review from a few days ago was very personal, and I have one from John M. Bennett that is personal in its connections.

Yes - fully understand what you're trying to express here - well, probably we all should think about this for a while .. and perhaps find a solution that .. how to say? ... solves all *problems*. There seem to be others who would want their reviews in the reviews section ..probably reviews in both sections? That's sure more work ... I really don't know at the moment.

If I were writing a review, I would ask for it to be in the reviews section. Perhaps upcoming events or releases could be put in the news section. Otherwise, I like it being called "Artist Pages". Turn on, tune in, drop out... E.C. seems like a good outlet for capturing otherwise ephemeral occurrences.

Maybe I am over-thinking this... I think that maybe we should call them Member Pages instead of Artist Pages. But also, I think that each participant in the site can decide if they want to put a review in the REVIEWS section or on their personal Member Page. Not both.

I wasn't gonna comment, but since somebody requested my opinion, I will. I think anybody who has the inclination to interpret reality, including by writing a review or by offering a thoughtful opinion, is an artist. Whether or not these individuals consider themselves to be artists, and whether or not that prevents them from creating a "page" on this site is strictly their own business.

THIS is EXACTLY why I ask these questions, to get feedback. I can understand your concerns, C3. The fact that nobody is actually required to actually sign up to be able to participate here is one answer. I consider you or anyone to be a member of the community if you participate. We can continue to discuss it. I'm not in a huge hurry. I just wanna know what people are thinking, because this site needs to be about all of you people. 4/11/2018 16:50:20
Perhaps we are comrades, citizens, or residents of a virtual cottage of electronics!

Hmmm... yes, indeed! Perhaps even "Contributors." Or "Participants." Much more appealing to me than "Members." Good suggestions.

Yeah! Maybe we shouldn’t call them Artist Pages or Member Pages. Maybe we should just call that section EC People or People or Inhabitants and on that main section page just have the pics and names which you can click on and when you get to each person’s page you can figure out what’s going on there...

How about this? We will re-name the Artist Pages section to PARTICIPANTS. You can create a personal page there if you want, and then post whatever you want on your personal page. Also, you can post a review in the REVIEWS section. You can post short news items in the YOUR NEWS ITEMS section if you want to do that. And if you don't want to do any of those things but still want to contribute something every now and then on a one-time basis you can post whatever you like in the newly-created experimental section called ONE-SHOTS. This way everybody has options. Each person can choose one of several ways to experience and participate in EC. It puts the emphasis on PEOPLE and on FUN and COMMUNICATION and EXCHANGE... all of it free from the marketplace way of looking at life. I like to think of EC as a kind of multi-leveled Art Project based on Gift Economy values.

To clarify: If You DO choose to have a personal PARTICIPANT page you can post anything there that you want. There would be no rule that says that you can only post reviews in REVIEWS and short news items in YOUR NEWS ITEMS. If you have a personal page you can put any of those things on your personal page, if you want to, including one-shots. If you write a review that would fit better in REVIEWS you can put it there. It's really up to you!

I know what to do! It’s almost too simple. Instead of calling them Artist Pages or Member Pages we could just call them EC PERSONAL PAGES. You can choose to have a Personal Page or not. Or you can just be a free agent and use the other categories detailed in my comments directly above.

I think having Member Pages instead of Artist Pages is a good idea. It would promote cohesiveness among the group. Especially among potential new members.

Correction to my previous post: Personal Pages is also good. I guess that whatever it's called, would be okay with me. Any label that reinforces the overall theme of the site, of a group that is united to communicate and share any/all artistic thoughts, plans, works, implementations with each other within the loose framework that Hal has provided.

Yes - all in all very good solution! Escpecially the *new at EC* section. I'm visiting EC on a daily basis, so I don't miss anything. Had to leave the discussion last night .. bed was calling..
