Hey Swami, I just listened to The Deprogramming Center # 67 from start to finish - except for a 10-minute break due to an electrical outage caused by a crazy Florida thunderstorm - and I enjoyed the whole thing. I cannot say that I have ever baked a tape! I can say that I have recorded some tapes while baked, but that was many a moon ago. Usually with cassettes that have been sitting on a shelf or rack for years/decades, I gently tape the cassette shell against my other hand to loosen it up and that does the trick.

Cool Mr. Ed (itor), happy to please! Yeah, that whole "baking the tape" thing seems a little dangerous to me. Keep in mind that I was only reading what Don Campau wrote in his album notes. I never tried tape baking myself, but MAYBE Don has -- if he reads this, perhaps he could elucidate the process for us all to learn something..?

I do recall seeing a video years ago in which somebody put a reel of tape in a microwave oven... the tape danced all around -- hmmm... that must have been dAS from Big City Orchestra, right? -- am I dreaming this?
