Randomly on my husband Adam's Birthday 5 month's ago, I decided to record myself doing some improvisational experiments with our littleBits Korg Synth. I was inspired by Pete Shelley - Sky Yen.

I recently converted my YouTube recordings to wav format using this website app: conversion.com so I can share them on Bandcamp and elsewhere eventually but I would like to release them first exclusively on Electronic Cottage for feedback among peers.

Here are the links to the YouTube videos on my channel. One was originally recorded live on Facebook and the other live on Instagram. I have been experimenting and learning a lot about how to use social media to ones benefit and make new like minded friends.

Wonderful sounds, that wouldn't be the same Pete Shelley from the old english punk rock band The Buzzcocks? One of my favs in that genre.

YES!!! One of my favorite early punk bands <3

For reference:

Sky Yen is the first album recorded by English musician Pete Shelley of the buzzcocks, recorded in March 1974 for the purpose of supporting a film by Howard Devoto and released by his label Groovy Records in April 1980.

I like to listen to each separately or at the same time or even mixed with natural sounds it sooth's me. :D Also this is a taste of the kind of sounds I want to layer on future Tomokies Cup releases and my own. I love sound collages both organic and created.

Listening to the first one now. Excellent stuff. I love how unpredictable the whole thing is. It seems that even you can't tell what's going to happen next, but I could be wrong. That is a weird and amazing little instrument thingy.

Oh it was very unpredictable and truly a free improvisation but I was really enjoying the sounds I was getting from the Korg, each track I linked the magnetic littleBit pieces into a had a different configuration. :D

I appreciate the references, having not heard this, thank you. I do have other Devoto & Magazine releases. All Buzzcocks including singles or at least most.

Great sounds! I enjoyed both tracks. Had totally forgot about Korg little bits. That little speaker gives it a crunchy sound.

Love the dynamics of these pieces. Sometimes I keep thinking I hear birds chirping...there's certainly some synchronicity between the recordings and the world around me for sure...!

Glad you enjoyed this and yes indeed there were birds accompanying me that day and they definitely influenced some of the sounds I repeated once found.

The other cool thing about atmospheric "noise" like this is if you play the 2 at the same time (mashup style) somehow ...like with youtube open it 2 tabs or http://www.youtubedoubler.com/ it sounds pretty rad. I did this with Sky Yen as well. Bonus if you play it with some nature sounds like Environments1 - Psychologically Ultimate Seashore https://youtu.be/T0WFUcqRhEQ Layering sounds are fun and inspirational. I want to experiment and do my own sound collages in the future for my own project as well as for Tomokies Cup ( Project with my husband Adam Naworal ) I have amassed quite a bit of spontaneous field recordings.

I should also add a lot of the field and audio/visual recordings I have made were done using my LGQ7+ Android which seems to capture sound really well for a Smartphone I thought my crappy old iPhone 6s recorded well before it died but this newfangled contraption has it beat.
