Part 3

Rafa - Could you tell us a little about your PAPER POLICE project?  Since when are you developing this project?  Only in the field of Mail Art?

Jürgen - Enclosed is an article in English on it. I do that for over 25 years now controlling waste-paper containers all over Germany.
I take out what I consider valuable and keep it or distribute it again (like I have at this moment 15 institutions, collections, that receive material of mine) and I also distribute it as Mail Art.

Rafa - As a multidisciplinary artist that you are, have you had any experience with sound?  Have you made any recordings?

Jürgen - Yes, I do. Most is on cassettes.

Rafa - Anna Banana told me that you were going to Maastricht to do a collage with Rod Summers. How was the experience and the result?

Jürgen - I enclose the invitation-card for that project what I did with Rod Summers just recently. We also involved 20 other artists as collaborators. I also enclose an article on that.

Rafael, thanks for Part 4. Very interesting I’m so many ways- the psychological and the philosophical. The garbage can has the ultimate collage and mirror on society. Much thanks to you and Juergen for this thought provoking posting.

Rafal, I thought it was Rod Summers going to Jurgen to do a mutual collage project . . .but perhaps they have been alternating in visits for this project? The last one I got news of was with Rod going to Jurgen, then an exhibition of their collages. They also solicited material from mail-artists for this latest (that I've heard about) project.
Do keep me posted on your projects!

Now that mail-art has gone electronic, it's gone viral . . . the reason I quit mailing art is that it's so costly, and all my storage spaces are filled with boxes and boxes of the stuff. I am now trying to make at least an inventory of the 6 boxes of artistamp editions, then there are the 16+ boxes of the rest of the mailart, no to mention material I've generated for mailing and/or for performances and interactive events. It's all a bit overwhelming. I hope to find an archive to take and preserve it, but that involves creating inventories of it all! Doesn't leave much time for new mail-art works.

I understand! Anyway, I wish you are enjoying a lot seeing all that material again, despite the hard work. I would certainly have great pleasure, but knowing myself it would take me forever to finish the job because I am sure I could not stop taking photos and writing about what I would be seeing. A disaster as an archivist. Have a great summer among those boxes, Anna!
